My journey continues..........It is now about two and a half years since I was diagnosed as a T2D with a Hba1c of 8.1.
After initially severely restricting my carbohydrate consumption, and within six months, my Hba1C returned to Pre-Diabetic, low fives, levels, and I've been able to maintain this condition without medications, for two years now.
My successful remission has been based upon low carb diet changes and exercise only.
My Thanks go to the Beat Diabetes YouTube channel presented by Dennis Pollock, and various Low Carb cooking sites such as New Zealand based Ditch the Carbs, and others.
Dennis Pollock's recent videos have been about him personally trialing and tracking the use of a CGM.
He has conveyed this thoughts experiences whilst using this relatively new technology that is now becoming accessible to more of us T1D and T2D sufferers.
He compares his use of the CGM to his regular Prick the Finger type monitoring, that most of us still use to gather important information about which foods are safe to consume for our own diabetic condition.
I haven't used a CGM before, but I find the information about them to be very interesting, and obviously they would be very beneficial to help us to monitor our BGL Spikes, that are associated specifically to how the individual reacts to consuming different food types.
You can then eliminate those foods that spike your blood sugars, and help maintain BGL levels as desired.
There is no doubt that this information is very powerful, and with the CGM, it would also be very convenient to use and manage.
Whenever I view Denis's videos, I try to read some of the comments left behind by other viewers, which are often as good as the video itself.
Doing this recently, I came across information that both Apple and Samsung have patented technology that allows for Non-Invasive Reading of BGLs, and that the related products are likely to be released commercially before the end of this year, in the form of an Apple Watch type device.
These devices may include monitoring of Blood pressure, alcohol levels, and BGLs, without the need to puncture the skin.
This is very exciting news!
Cheers,
Greg
