    Hi Leonardus,
I hope you're fixed up the CGM by now. I would certainly ring the CGM manufacturer on their helpline ASAP for assistance before Christmas as they usually provide assistance. Otherwise, check UTUBE for demonstrations at setting up the device.  For my problems, in terms of connecting the sensor to the phone I turn the phone on and off  as well as also going to settings and turning on and off in the Bluetooth settings. My first port of call as stated above is to ring the manufacturer helpline.

I have been more than a month without my CGM. When my phone updated, the app was no longer compatible. I phoned them, they said they were aware of it and were working on a "fix" and would let me know. Two weeks later and nothing had happened. I've emailed them twice more, and twice they have simply sent me a list of compatible phones, of which my Samsung Galaxy s22 is one. I replied TWICE with a screen shot and have been stonewalled. My last telephone conversation with them was, shall we say, curt (not on my part). I know of at least three others who have the same problem, so the argument that it is my (3 month old) phone that is the problem isn't washing. I have no idea where to turn to now. We have no diabetic educator here and our nearest endocrinologist is 165km away, with most likelya minimum 6 month waiting list. I managed to set up my CGM by myself - the local educator had absolutely no input into it. It was left at the reception desk for me to pick up and wade through the process by myself. It has be running beautifully - the only issues I have had is being sent expired transmitters and sensors. Also, my partner's iPhone14 won't accept the app either. I am so fed up and frustrated. I have a huge uni exam coming up and really need some kind of CBGM to get me through the 3 hour exam. Maybe we could form an action group to bombard them with calls for help? Any other ideas would be welcome. Seriously missing "Wilbur" here and feeling very vulnerable..

Lisa, your CGM has a transmitter, so its not the type that I have.  Maybe let people know the brand/model of your CGM so that someone with that model can help.  Otherwise maybe change your CGM (although your CGM and pump might be a  match....).

    Hi Lisa,
Being isolated and having Type1 diabetes is not easy. Have you tried the Diabetes Australia's diabetes educators. Mention on to the secretary that you are seeking assistance with your CGM and hopefully you'll be connected to someone with expertise. I have found Diabetes Australia's educators absolutely fantastic asking many problems relating to insulin, getting my levels down etc etc. Why not ask for a zoom call and go through the problem online. Best of luck for your exam and have a wonderful Christmas.

I have a Guardian CGM and was told by Guardian helpline staff to keep the  auto updates switched off as I had 2 episodes where updates caused the Guardian app to cease working. The companies that manufacture these devices need to do  better. I had to uninstall the app on both occassions and fortunately things worked when the app was reinstalled. It was very stressful for me aa you become so reliant on the technology

    Hi Gillian,

My app survived a number of updates during its lifetime, without a glitch. Because I was left to set up the whole show by myself, I wasn't told anything about auto updates. But that shouldn't be an issue. To me it's more important to make sure my phone has all the latest security releases. Turning off auto-update is not an option for me. And I shouldn't have to. I have tried dozens of times to uninstall and reinstall, but it still won't work. Someone from Medtronic  was supposed to be in contact with me this week. It's now Friday, 2 days before Christmas, and I suppose everything will be shut down over the break.  So there goes at least another 2 weeks. I don't even have the option of changing over to another system due to the lack of educators or endocrinologists here. So basically I am stuck with an advanced biomedical device that I can't use because the manufacturer can't make the software compatible with the latest OS on people's phones.  NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

Hi Lisa I understand your frustration. I would never recommend Guardian CGM to anyone after having mine for almost 3 years I found it initially extremely stressful following the advice of the dsles person in the set up and leaving all the alarms in place.  I felt very stressed and that the CGM was ruling my life I eventually removed all the alarms except approach High and approach Low readings and life became much simpler

    1. To all:  A person in Lisa's situation should not have to get an authority from a diabetic educator or anyone to get a different type of CGM.  Now that they are subsidised, an adult should just need to prove T1.
    2. As I understand, even  a GP can't sign the authority.
    3. I've never consulted with a  CDE and was lucky to have been "grand fathered" to the subsidised CGM because I had bought them myself in the past.  I'm very grateful for that.

Since DA administer the scheme, maybe they could look into the process.

Lisa, have you tried just going to your chemist and asking for a different CGM ?  Or maybe cold-calling Abbot or another provider to see if they could supply one.

I lived remote for 20 years and found that suppliers and the medical community were sympathic and bent the rules for commen since.

I wish you well Lisa and can sense your frustration.

    Thanks Jock.

I have just shot off an imploring email to NDSS/DA outlining my desperation. I set up the original CGBM by myself - the DE was too busy. For 2 months.

Just to clarify - I was on a subsidised scheme for the CGBM, I think the involvement of healthcare professionals may have something to do with maintaining the integrity of the subsidy scheme. Maybe. I still qualify - Type 1, over 60, 2 or more co-morbidities and concession card holder. Perhaps the issue lies in cancelling that subsidy and setting up a new one?

Anyway, I don't hold much hope for any resolution for at least a few more weeks. I am just hanging on with the hope that it will all be sorted before my exams in the first week of February.  There is no way I want to sit through a 3-hour  exam without a Wilbur in control of my sugars.
