Hi Judith I was diagnosed with AF just prior to my T1 diagnosis early in 2022. I was originally prescribed Metoprolol but changed to Sotalol after a cardioversion. Neither of them raised my bsl but my research shows they definitely can. I suggest talking to your endocrinologist as well as your cardiologist. I had a pulse field ablation in May and was taken off Sotalol 3 months later. I have no more AF and my heart rate has returned to normal after having bradycardia with a heart rate between 38 and 42.

Subject: Sotalol
Morning all- In the last two year I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and flutter which didn't impact my life too much. Things have changed and the cardiologist has changed my medication to Sotalol which is really raising my BSL's- I'm on mdi and am constantly but slowly raising my insulin dosages- I have "googled" for results but nothing too specific appears. See the cardiologist in 5 weeks but like many in our community I like to keep my diabetes under control. Are there any other Type 1's who have dealt with this issue . Kind regards and thank you Diabetes Australia for the support you give us all. Judy
