Swap: Rich, creamy store bought ice cream for homemade banana 'soft serve ice cream'

Why: While store bought ice cream is ok for an occasional treat, it contains a lot of saturated fat and sugar. If you have a sweet tooth, it may be hard to resist more than an occasional serve. Try banana 'soft serve ice cream' instead - blitz two ripe frozen bananas in a food processor until they turn thick and creamy. Simple! For a chocolate or nutty taste, add one teaspoon of cocoa or 100% peanut or almond butter. This healthy alternative meets your daily fruit, is low in calories, has zero fat and no added sugars. Happy days!

If you're unsure whether the above food swap is right for you, please consult your health professional or call 1800 177 055 and ask to speak with a dietitian.
