    Hi Team,

Your next presentation inspired me to look up the relationship between type 1 diabetes and dementia. Current research certainly closely aligns having hypos with dementia "A meta-analysis of 28 prospective observational studies determined that individuals with diabetes have a 73% greater risk of developing all-cause dementia (dementia not limited to a certain type), with a 56% and 127% increased risk of AD and vascular dementia, respectively" (Dementia in Diabetes: The Role of Hypoglycemia Khaled Hameed Husain,1 Saud Faisal Sarhan,1 Haya Khaled Ali Abdulla AlKhalifa,1Asal Buhasan,1 Abu Saleh Md Moin,2, and Alexandra E. Butler2,*‡.

I've had hypos most of my life, yet never been admitted to hospital by another which is part of the definition of severe hypo"s. Yet many  of my hypo"s in the past have been quite severe in terms of being non functional, walking or lying down  in a daze with terrible headaches for a large part of my life. Like other long term diabetics it was just so hard to continually test blood sugars starting off with Clinistix litmus strips.

I'm sure most Endocrinologists and patients like myself when discussing hypos have been reserved on the subject due to the implications of losing one's driving  licence. Legally, the implications of having hypos, a  side effect of injecting insulin, have enormous implications on one's daily life.

Thankfully, my Libre 2 CGM has been a game changer for me in terms of limiting hypo's with my blood sugars now being mostly in range.

It should be a fascinating presentation.
