In the lead up to World Diabetes Day, we want to help spread hope for the future and take a look at how far research has come.
With talk last month during our focus on complications, the relationship between diabetes and dementia was discussed. The Garvan Institute of Medical Research are now seeking participants for a phase 3 clinical trial to test a drug that could slow the process of cognitive decline - the three-year intervention study will examine the effects of metformin on cognition, brain anatomy, vascular health and early signs of dementia.
