This month we are all sharing lots of information around exercise and how to stay motivated.

But for some, exercise is unenjoyable or difficult for several reasons.

In this thread you can share with other members why exercise can be a challenge for you, maybe you will get some handy tips from others who have the same issue or perhaps, share the little incidental things (gardening, housework and walking up your stairs) you do to try and make getting active achievable for you.

If you have any questions on how you can add exercise into your life when you don't find it enjoyable or perhaps it's difficult, put the question in our Exercise Physiologist thread and Clare will be in to answer your questions at the end of August.

    Hi everyone

For me, the challenge of exercising is not so much because of Type 1 diabetes although it is a factor. My main challenge is finding a safe place where I live without having to drive for at least 20 minutes. Also, I am the full-time carer for my partner, so I am not really able to leave her for more than a short amount of time. These may only sound like excuses but they are not in saying that. I get quite a lot of incidental exercise during a normal day with caring and housework and doing the running around.

I am planning on getting out to the river regularly as the weather states to warm up. My favoured exercise is stand-up paddle boarding which I discovered a couple of years ago. I have found it is a full-body workout and also great for core strength and weight control. Not only that I get to slow down and watch the local animal and bird life go about their daily activities which is a great recharge for my own mental health.
