Needle disposal

I have 3 containers of used needles, and I'm not sure how to dispose of them.

Is there any where they can be taken?

What do other people do with their used needles?

To Phil - Most hospitals have a "sharps" disposal facility. Your local chemist may be able to do it or at least give you a list of places. Also your GP could help.

    Hi Phil

I take mine to my local hospital. I think they just put it in with their sharps. They used to give me a replacement container, but they stopped doing that a couple of years ago :(

Any pharmaceutical shop takes needles for disposal.

Catherine, no not any pharmaceutical shop in my experience!

Haven't found one yet that would take them - happy to sell me a container but dont want the full one returned.  There are a few spots around the cities that one may need to google to find and many hospitals have drop off points.

Sorry, I'm new to the game, I presumed all pharmacies took needles, my pharmacy, Blooms, took mine no problem, I don't even need a sharps container, I put them in empty water bottles.  Anyway it seems there are plenty of outlets, you shouldn't have any trouble

    Cheers Catherine.

    Hi Phil
I am in Sydney and take mine to Prince of Wales Hospital where they have a large sharps disposal bin. Also there are pharmacists listed in your council website who take them also.

    Hi Phil,

Try website for sharps disposals as some chemist's use a govt program where they take your full containers and for free will give you empty containers. You can enquire with your local council for chemists in your area that do this program or try website Safe Sharps- Find a disposal point near you.
