I watched the Australian Idol final showing Marcia Hines proudly displaying her sensor on her upper left arm for all to view. Marcia has always been a vocal advocate for type one diabetes.
Type one diabetics both men and women need role models like Marcia to show that it's OKAY wearing this conspicuous button sensor. It's no more obvious wearing pumps to the beach etc.
It was sad that Marcia had a diabetic episode in her dressing room and was taken to hospital. ( Daily Mail see link below). Of course we wish Marcia good health and recovery. The incident highlights our vulnerability as type one diabetics and how everyday struggles to manage such an all encompassing chronic disease effect us all anywhere and anytime
