QCH has served our family well since 1977 and now it's just my wife and I.
Like all insurance, we pay the fees in case something bad happens. The system works because some people don't draw what they pay and some draw more. That's just the way it is.
When I pay the anual fees, I wonder if we would have been better off to self insure, but my wife and QCH bring me back to level ground. Modern operations are very expensive.
All we can do is hope that the insurance companies work efficiently. In theory, the smaller NFP companies should be better because their surpluses are returned to members (i.e. owners).

Yes Michelle. I too found this hitch out about HCF only covering after 5 years. However Medtronic give you a thing called a bridging loan which basically means they waive that 5th year. I have been with Medtronic for 25 years but they do give it to everyone I'm sure.

Why is it that HCF will only cover Omnipod Dash for 4 years , but HCF have a 5 year cycle? I had to go to the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman about HCF to get them to give me an answer on this one! Apparently, I would have to pay for the 5th year myself, as the life of 'all' insulin pumps is 5 years, even though I pointed out it was a 3 day pump!
How the heck does one find out which private health insurance providers have a 4 year cycle, when no private health insurance web sites, or comparison web sites actually say whether they have a 4 or 5 year turn around for standard insulin pumps and throw away pumps like Omnipod Dash.
It doesn't matter how many times you point out to Mark Butler in letter after letter, that insulin pumps have a 4 year warranty, but a 5 year turn around on some private health insurance providers and the pure insanity of this situation. Mark Butler just doesn't want to admit he made a mistake in putting Omnipod Dash on a 4 year turn around!
